How to help

The St. John's Breadline of Springfield is an affiliate of Catholic Charities. It serves a hot, nutritious meal to the hungry men, women and children of Springfield in a clean and positive environment. Without these accessible meals, these men & women would spend too much time seeking food security rather than finding jobs, getting an education, or being an integral part of the community. The breadline serves over 200,000 meals per year

Your presence at the Esper Figueras Memorial Golf outing helps to support this worthy cause. We are approved as an official non-for-profit 501c3 organization by the IRS. Our last outing held on July 8th 2023 raised $7700 for the breadline!!

July 8th, 2023

Last year's outing was held on Saturday July 8th, 2023 at Lincoln Greens Golf Course in Springfield, IL. Thank you to all who donated and joined us for a day of food, fun and golf! We all had an amazing time raising money for St. John's Breadline and remembering our dear Esper Figueras. We also remembered another member of our family who passed this year, Aidan Worswick (husband of Izzy Figueras).  We encouraged all to wear a black ribbon to support melanoma awareness.

We were all worried about the weather the whole previous week, but God blessed us with a perfect day. A bit cloudy and overcast in the morning but the sun came out and stayed with us all afternoon and evening. Eighty eight golfers signed up for this year's outing. A delicious lunch of brats and hot dogs was provided by St. John's Breadline.

Congratulations to the winners of the golf challenges who took home $50 gift cards from CVS Pharmacy, Target, Walmart & Dick's Sporting Goods

Ladies Long Drive : Jayme Kirchner

Ladies Closest to the Pin : Kathy Kucher

Men's Closest to the Pin: Jim Corum

Men's Long Drive : Nathan Lawyer

Best overall score with a 63 was a 3 way tie between Team 2B - Benjamin Figueras, Christian Damico, Jack Kavanagh & Jithin Martin, Team 5A Mike Drake, Shane Watkins, Byron Creasy & Blake Davis and Team 9A Kevin Burke, Mike Brand & Bill Bennett. The tie was broken by Lincoln Greens Golf Officiant golf rule of playoff by way of scorecard. The final winner was Team 2B (Figueras,Damico,Kavanagh,Martin). The $200 cash prize was graciously given back to St. John's.

The dinner and appetizers were enjoyed by all. Thank you to St. John's Breadline and The Figueras Family for providing the food, including our outing's signature dishes of lumpia (Filipino egg rolls) and full roast pig! Congratulations to all the winners of the door prizes, of which were donated by Kevin Burke and the Illinois Asphalt Pavement Assn. A special thank you to our Event Sponsors Joe & Julie Figueras and The Lawinger Family.

With your participation and support we raised $7700 to St John's Breadline.
